Krissy Lukins: GIS - A “Spatial” Technology!
Elevator pitch
Did you know that November 13th is GIS Day? Listen to stories about how this amazing technology is changing the world and how YOU can use it too!
Abstract
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a map is worth a million! A geographic information system (GIS) allows us to visualize spatial data to see relationships, make predictions, and ultimately made decisions that can have an impact both locally and globally. We live with an explosive amount of data at our fingertips - things like population, health, agriculture, weather, etc. How can we USE that data to make better decisions? With a GIS we can ASK geographic questions, EXPLORE the data, and ACT on our findings!
