Jay Shefchik: Renewable Natural Gas
Elevator pitch
Understanding the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Market and How Local Dairy Farms are Getting Involved
Abstract
As the United States and the world pursues greener and more sustainable energy sources, RNG has become a viable solution and a true alternative for fossil fuels used either in the transportation or thermal (manufacturing or heating applications) markets. RNG has the same chemical makeup as fossil natural gas; as such, there are no conversion costs for applications that currently use fossil natural gas. RNG can be produced from various feedstocks including wastewater treatment facilities, landfills, and dairy farms. During this presentation, we will discuss how local dairy farms are getting involved in the RNG market to not only provide a cleaner alternative fuel but also establishing more sustainable farming practices through the use of anaerobic digesters.
